“GRAYTON BEACH, Fla. – It’s where barefoot hippies meet Burberry-clad yuppies, biker babes hang with beach bums and haute cuisine is served with a side of bluegrass.” By MELISSA NELSON, Associated Press Writer
Grayton Beach is an island unto itself. It’s a place where beach shacks hang with multi-million dollar homes. A place full of people who have “made it” but couldn’t give a flip whether anyone knows it. A place where you can take your 4 wheel drive (permitted!) vehicle down on the beach to watch a sunset on a crisp winter evening— or spend the whole day on a lazy, warm, some kind of wonderful, summer day. Grayton Beach is a celebrity hideaway and at the same time home to the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker, you never know who you might run into.
Grayton Beach was the first community established in South Walton, sometime in the late 19th century.
